Herman Haliste ( est. Herman Halliste ; June 28, 1900 , Kohila - October 18, 1973 , Tallinn ) is an Estonian sculptor .

Biography
Born in the family of a gardener Kohil estate. Together with his parents he moved to Kiidevu.
He studied in the studio of Ants Laykma (1919-1922) and the Higher Art School "Pallas" (1923-1926) under the leadership of Anton Starkopf and Voldemar Mellika .
During World War II, he worked mainly as a painter [1] . Spent one summer in the vicinity of Tartu .
He molded a series of sculptural portraits of famous Estonian artists [2] , granite portraits of Kirillus Kreke [3] and Anton Starkopf. Along with the portraits he created the figures “Lein” (mourning) [4] [5] , “Hämarik” (twilight), “Istuv naine” (Sitting Woman) [6] [7] , “Üksinda” (Lonely), “Põlvitaja” (Kneel down).
In 1950, he made more than 600 models of fruits, vegetables and grapes from wax, stearin and paraffin for the Tallinn Museum of Nature . For the Narva Museum, he prepared the figure of a soldier of the Northern War in full arms, for the Pärnu Museum - a life-size woman and a fisherman.
