Koktebel Jazz Party is an annual international jazz festival that took place in Crimea until 2014 under the name Jazz Koktebel . Later, in connection with the accession of Crimea to Russia , the festival moved to the mainland of Ukraine, and the so-called Koktebel Jazz Party is being financed in the Crimea and was organized by the TV presenter Dmitry Kiselev.
History
The festival arose as a private initiative of the founder and "founder of Koktebel jazz" journalist Dmitry Kiselyov . The small Crimean village gave the name of the festival, which took a recognized place in the list of jazz events. The festival turned Koktebel into a “jazz Mecca”, becoming the largest open jazz venue in the south of the country [1] .
Over the years, the Koktebel Jazz Party international jazz festival was held with the participation of bands from different regions of Russia , as well as jazz bands from Brazil, the USA, Israel, Great Britain, India, Armenia, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, but at the same time there are difficulties with attracting foreign guests. [2]
Since 2014, the funds received from the sale of tickets, the organizers of the Koktebel Jazz Party have been sending to the social needs of the Crimea. For example, the proceeds from the sale of festival tickets in 2015 were transferred to the local school of the village of Koktebel [3] .
In 2016, the festival was held from August 26 to 28 on two stages - the Main, located on the seashore, and Voloshinsky, located in the house-museum of the famous Russian poet Maximilian Voloshin .
For three days, 14 groups from more than 15 countries of the world performed at the Koktebel Jazz Party venues. Among the participants of the festival: Big Band of the Tula Philharmonic conducted by the famous Moscow jazz saxophonist, art director of the festival Sergey Golovni, international ensemble Jacob Okun (Spain, Belgium, Germany, France, Russia), jazz quartet Li Xiaochuan (China), Rostov Dixieland (Russia), the Tribute to Benny Goodman project (Finland and Russia) and the East - West Connection international team. The musicians performed more than 150 compositions. According to the organizers, the festival was visited by more than 12 thousand spectators.
