Houghton, Greg

Greg Haugton ( born Greg Haughton ; born November 10, 1973 , Kingston ) is a Jamaican athlete . He has won three Olympic medals (bronze at the 1996 Olympics , as well as silver and bronze at the 2000 Olympics . Greg Haugton's personal 400m record is 44.56 seconds.

He was coached by Clyde Hart (a famous trainer who also taught Michael Johnson ). Houghton also won bronze medals in the 400m race at the 1995 and 2001 World Athletics Championships . Haugton won gold medals at the 2001 Goodwill Games , the 1999 Pan American Games , the Central American and Caribbean Islands Athletics Championships 1993 . Haugton has won five Jamaican athletics championships.

As part of the 4 × 400 meter relay team in Jamaica, the Jamaican athlete in 2004 became the indoor world champion. Greg Haugton three times became the silver medalist of the world championships.

Haugton was inducted into the Virginia State Hall of Fame, George Mason University Hall of Fame, and the Carreras Sports Hall of Fame as the best male athlete of the year for the 1999-2000 season. In April 2011, the athlete received an award from the sports association of inter-secondary schools "for his outstanding contribution to the development of athletics in Jamaica ."
