Emblem Description
The position of the coat of arms contains the following description of the coat of arms :
In a red (scarlet) field, a galloping silver elk with golden wings, horns and hooves; extremity - three silver spruces, the middle of which is higher, covered with a blue (azure) wavy strip, set in a belt.
Symbols of the coat of arms:
Three silver firs in a red field personify the natural riches and beauty of the Kuzhenersky region. Blue wavy strip - the river Kuzhenerka, which is associated with the name of the area.
The galloping silver winged elk is a symbol-charm and an example of a combination of the features of the beast and bird - mythological images that are widespread in the tradition of the ancient Finno-Ugric peoples. The galloping elk is a common ornamental element of women's national headwear embroidery. The heraldic elk, combining the qualities of the beast and birds, embodies the idea of the hilly expanses of the Kouhener side, which can only be flown around with the help of wings.
The figure of a winged moose gives the coat of arms a bright distinctiveness and heraldic originality, ensuring recognition of the main symbol of the region (in Russian heraldry there are more than 110 coats of arms depicting elks, but not a single winged one).
The region’s hunters call the moose depicted on the coat of arms “horned Carlson ” for being very plump and, as it were, hovering above the ground [2] .
Primary colors ( tinctures ) of the coat of arms:
Silver (white color) symbolizes nobility and wisdom, peacefulness, high moral and spiritual thoughts. White color is the most revered by the Mari people.
Red (scarlet) color symbolizes activity, diligence, beauty, courage and people's love for their land, their homeland.
The combination of white and red in the emblem of the Kuzhenersky District is associated with the main colors of the national embroideries of the Mari and Russian peoples.
