Born in Cuba , served in the Quartermaster San Salvador , at the beginning of the 19th century he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. The Quartermaster San Salvador was subordinate to the Captain General of Guatemala . In 1812, the Cadiz Cortes divided the region into two provinces: Guatemala (Guatemala, Chiapas, Honduras and El Salvador) and Nicaragua and Costa Rica (Nicaragua and Costa Rica), while the Governor of Guatemala retained the position of “Captain General of Central America and Chiapas. " In January 1821, the San Salvador Quartermaster Jose Maria Peinado passed away, and Pedro Barriere became the new Quartermaster of San Salvador.
On September 15, 1821, the Central American Independence Act was passed in the capital of general capitals; the quartermaster offices were abolished, and Pedro Barriere became the political chief (Jefe Político) of San Salvador. On September 30, 1821, Manuel Jose Arce and a group of supporters approached the Barriere with a proposal to create an advisory economic council. However, Barriere ordered them to be arrested, but, fearing popular outrage, sent them to the capital - to Guatemala .
The ruling junta of Guatemala, having received information from the Barrier from the incident, was ready to crack down on the prisoners. However, José Matías Delgado , who was appointed Guatemala’s Interim Advisory Junta, became the new political leader of San Salvador, met them halfway, in Santa Ana , and released them.
Pedro Barriere was forced to leave San Salvador and moved to Guatemala. At the beginning of 1822, Central America was annexed by the Mexican Empire , but in 1823 stood out from it, forming the United Provinces of Central America , and Barrier became part of the army of the new state. On April 29, 1825, Manuel Jose Arce was elected the first president of the United Provinces. In 1826, a civil war broke out in the country, and Pedro Barriere died in 1827 at the battle of Milingo, being in the service of his former opponent.
