History
Established in 1642. From 1805 to 1865 - the 8th Infantry Regiment of the Austrian Empire . Headquarters - Brunn . He participated in the Austro-Turkish wars, in the Seven Years War, in the Napoleonic Wars and the Austro-Italian-Prussian War, as well as in the Hungarian uprising. At various times, the patrons of the regiment were [4] :

The regiment consisted of 4 battalions: the 1st, 2nd and 4th were based in Vienna before the beginning of the WWI, the 2nd - in Trebinje . The national composition of the regiment as of 1914: 31% - Germans, 67% - Czechs, 2% - other nationalities [5] . In 1914, the regiment went to the Italian front of the First World War [6] .
In the course of the so-called reforms Conrad since June 1918 the number of battalions has been reduced to three [7] , and the 3rd battalion was disbanded [8] .
