Geilo

Geilo

Geilo ( Geilo ) - one of the most famous and popular Norwegian ski resorts . Located in the middle of the road between Bergen and Oslo , on the Hardanger plateau, next to the national park of the same name.

Geilo is one of the largest ski centers in Norway. Two ski areas of the resort are located opposite each other, on two mountain ranges, between which the village itself is located.

International skiing and cross-country skiing competitions are held here. In 1980, the Second Paralympic Winter Games were held. The resort has a well-developed base for winter sports with more than 100 years of tradition. It is no coincidence that Geilo is called the “Alpine town” - the first skiing competitions in Norway were held here in 1935. The snow here lies almost all year round. Good snow cover for skiing is guaranteed from November to May.
