Potaninskaya street (Novosibirsk)

Potaninskaya street - a street in the Central district of Novosibirsk. It starts from Sovetskaya Street and adjoins Red Avenue , after which it is interrupted. The next part of the street begins to the east in the administrative-residential quarter and forms a T-shaped intersection with Shamshinykh Family Street . The third part departs from Potaninsky Lane and merges at an acute angle with Romanovsky Walking Descent. The fourth street part starts from Tatarskaya Street and ends in a residential quarter in the immediate vicinity of the Hippodrome Highway (~ 65 m), Tatar Descent adjoins this part of the street from the south side.

Title

The street is named after Grigory Nikolayevich Potanin (1835-1920), a Russian geographer, ethnographer and publicist, one of the founders of Siberian regionalism.

Historic Buildings

  • Two-storey mansion (Potaninskaya Street No. 10 / a) - a tenement house, built in 1915. Monument of architecture of regional significance. Since 1922, the editorial board of the literary and art magazine Siberian Lights was located here. Currently (according to 2015), the Twiggy cocktail bar is located in the building. [one]
  • The house where Yu. V. Kondratyuk worked is a building constructed in 1924, located on the corner of Sovetskaya and Potaninskaya streets. Here was the regional office of Khleboproduct JSC , which in 1927 invited Yuri Vasilyevich Kondratyuk , one of the founders of astronautics and the author of the work “Conquest of Interplanetary Spaces” to work. The building houses the Museum of the city of Novosibirsk. [2]
  • Residential building (Red Avenue No. 33) is a five-story building with architectural elements of classicism, built in 1952. Located on the corner of Red Avenue and Potaninskaya Street. The famous test pilot Ivan Fedorovich Sorokin and the honored architect of Russia Anatoly Afanasevich Volovik lived in this house; their memory is immortalized with memorial plaques installed on the building.
