Criticism
The famous master of political cinema made a picture called “Dear Gorbachev”, based on genuine documents and dedicated to the fate of the outstanding revolutionary Nikolai Bukharin. The film was shown in the fall of 1988 at the Venice Film Festival. The title of the film was given by A. Larina’s appeal to the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPSU, and Lidzani’s words were based on Bukharin’s message to his descendants, which his wife kept for almost half a century in memory.
Lizani’s film is chamber, it takes place during one night - the last night before the eternal separation of two wonderful people, before the beginning of the long and painful struggle of Anna Larina for truth, justice, and revolutionary ideals to which her husband dedicated his life. “Is the Italian allowed to tell this Russian story? - Carlo Lidzani asks himself. “My doubts were dispelled by the conviction that the theme of justice, restoration of justice is universal and universally significant.”
