Pei ( fr. Peille ) is a commune in the south-east of France in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region , department Alpes-Maritimes , Nice district , canton Comte [1] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of L'Escaren (Nice district).

Economy
In 2010, out of 1388 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years old), 1073 were economically active , 315 were inactive (an activity indicator of 77.3%, in 1999 - 70.1%). Of the 1073 active able-bodied residents, 979 people (531 men and 448 women) worked, 94 were unemployed (43 men and 51 women). Among 315 able-bodied inactive citizens, 105 were pupils or students , 112 were retired , and another 98 were inactive for other reasons [7] [8] .
During 2010, there were 811 taxable households in the commune , in which 1,909.0 people lived. At the same time, the median income amounted to 20 thousand 421 euros per taxpayer [9] .
