Club career

He began his professional football career in a team of the same name from his hometown, Sliven , in which he played from 1994 to 1997. From 1998 to 2000 he played in Lokomotiv (Plovdiv). In 2001 he moved to CSKA . Kolev was sent on loan at Beroe , and in 2002 he became the main goalkeeper of CSKA thanks to Stoicho Mladenov. In the same year, Stoyan was called up to the national team. In 2003, he was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the season, according to the newspaper Trud. In the summer of 2004, he returned to Lokomotiv (Plovdiv), where he played until 2008. After Lokomotiv, he became a player in Ocelul . Took third place in the nomination for the best goalkeeper of the league in the 2008/09 season.

At the beginning of 2010 he moved to Chernomorets (Burgas). Initially, he was the reserve goalkeeper, and since 2011 - has become the main. He was recognized as the best goalkeeper of 2011. In the 2011/12 season, he did not miss goals for 870 minutes. June 16, 2013 left the club and signed a contract with CSKA . In 2015, he resumed his career and became a player in CSKA.

Coaching career

On March 7, 2015, he completed his football career and was appointed goalkeeper coach at CSKA .
