Early years
Karting
Stevens began his racing career in 2003 at the age of 12 in karting . After one year of racing at the National Cadet Championship, he joined the Rotax Mini Max. After racing in many different championships in the UK and beyond, he joined Formula Renault 2.0.
Formula 1
2014
In October 2014, Marussia F1 announced that Stevens had joined the team as a backup driver for the remainder of the 2014 season . They initially planned to launch it in their first practice at the Japanese Grand Prix, but they could not return the relevant documents to the FIA.
In November, he debuted for the Caterham F1 in Abu Dhabi . He finished the race in 17th place with one lag.
2015
In February 2015, the Manor Marussia F1 team announced Stevens as one of its pilots, along with Roberto Mary . Manor Marussia did not compete in Australia due to technical problems. In Malaysia, Stevens spoke on 1 practice. However, he did not compete and race due to problems with the fuel system. At the Chinese Grand Prix, Stevens finished his first race for Manor Marussia in 15th place ahead of Mary. Stevens finished ahead of Mary in Bahrain and Spain . He finished after Mary in Monaco 16th. In Canada, he qualified after his teammate but became 17th due to a penalty kick by Jenson Button , Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen . In the 52 lap race, Stevens faced Roman Grozhan from Lotus . Grosjean received a 5-second penalty. Stevens finished 17th. After the race, Grosjean apologized to Stevens.
