Story
In August 1908, a traveling circus arrived in a small German town with tours. Its director Sasha Obolsky is none other than the brother of the local owner of the garden gnome factory Albert Oberholzer, who disappeared twenty years ago. Alexander Oberholzer, as Sasha Obolsky is actually called, came to congratulate his brother on his birthday. Amazed townspeople get acquainted with his charming wife Iduna, who in a song told about her father, a famous clown, turning her head to more than one respectable family man.
The daughter of Albert Oberholzer, Anna, the circus and its director delight. Anna studies at a dance school and dreams of a metropolitan scene. Despite her love for the young gardener, Robert Anna decided to run away from home to become a circus performer, at the same time avoiding a link to her unloved childless aunt Paula. Iduna is unhappy with the close relationship that develops between Anna and her husband. Nevertheless, the runaway is accommodated for the night in a room draped in the skins of leopards and stuffed with stuffed wild animals. The girl had a nightmare about how she became an air gymnast and in one of the performances fell from a rope to hungry lions. Frightened, Anna returned to her parents' house in the morning. At the end of the film, all misunderstandings are safely resolved, the circus gives a brilliant last farewell performance and leaves.
