The Charas College [1] is a collection in the library of the Center for the Study of Southeast Asia, Kyoto University . The collection includes the largest collection of cremation volumes outside Thailand , nangsue ngan sop [2] or nangsii anuson ngznsop [3] , books created on the occasion of cremation by noble Thais [2] . "Cremation Tom" contains a biography of the deceased and the history of his family, as well as texts of various genres. The “cremation tom” of the famous departed are published in the form of books or brochures. Due to the wealth of information, “cremation volumes” are used to study history [4] , literature [3] , ethnography [3] .

The collection was donated to the library of Kyoto University by Charas Pikul, a former member of the administration of Thailand [5] . Each volume contains several different texts; The first four parts of the detailed description of these texts were published in 2006–2012 [6] [7] [8] [9] . The 191 books described by Kyriyanant in 2012 [9] contain 784 texts and information about 226 departed (the number of deceased exceeds the number of books, since several departed could be cremated together). The largest group of the departed - members of the administration (80) and the royal family (43) [9] . The most popular themes among 784 texts are religion (108) and law (100); Also in the collection there are texts about chess and canning [9] .
