Fiery piranga ( lat. Piranga bidentata ) - a species of birds of the cardinal family. Genus lat Piranga . It is listed in the IUCN Red List as a Least Concern (LC) [1] . Previously, the species belonged to the Tanagra family, like other representatives of this genus.

Distributed in Guatemala , Honduras , Costa Rica , Mexico , Nicaragua , Panama , El Salvador and in the southwestern United States [2] .
The plumage of the body in males is fiery red, the tail is black, the wings are black with white stripes, on the back between the wings there is a black speck. On the head near the eyes, the plumage is paler, has a gray frame; the same for females. Females have an olive-green top, an olive-yellow bottom and black wings with white stripes as in males. Beak is gray, legs are black [2] .
The natural range of fiery piranha is humid mixed (pine-oak) mountain forests. The melodious singing of a bird sounds like “chik-chirik-chivi” and “pr-rivers” [2] .
