Creation History
By a decree of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus and the Council of Ministers of the BSSR, according to a project developed by the Kiev Institute Giprokhimmash, it was decided to build in Gomel a specialized plant for the production of iron castings for machine-tool engineering and mechanical engineering. Construction began in 1963, and in 1965, in the areas of the commissioned mechanical-repair shop, the first product was received - non-standard equipment for the further development of its own production. The first melting was carried out on October 24, 1968. This date is the date of formation of the plant.
At that time, the plant was in the USSR Minstankprom system, which included nine more plants with the name “Centrolit”. Currently, many of these plants have ceased to exist or began to work as foundries or small enterprises due to their difficult financial situation.
Current position
On December 23, 2010, the Gomel Foundry Center Tsentrolit, a republican unitary enterprise, was transformed into the Open Joint-Stock Company Tsentrolit Gomel Foundry (OAO GLZ Tsentrolit). In July 2012, OAO GLZ TsENTROLIT entered in the composition of the holding "Belstankoinstrument".
