He studied at the London Royal Academy of Music, then privately studied in Cologne with Igor Ozima . He also graduated from Oxford University with a degree in philosophy and classical philology. From 1986 he was the accompanist of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and at the same time (until 1994 ) the second violin of the Quartet Arditti specializing in modern music, in which over 8 years of work he took part in world premieres of more than 200 works. After leaving the quartet, along with solo performances and working as a concertmaster in a number of orchestras, Alberman toured extensively as part of a duet with pianist Rolf Hind .
Alberman’s repertoire is dominated by the music of the last half century: compositions by Luciano Berio , John Cage , Pierre Boulez , Morton Feldman , Eliot Carter , Steve Reich , Brian Fernihou and others.
