The Main Directorate of the Patrol Police of the City of Lvov [2] ( Ukrainian Golovna Administration of the Patrol Police of the City of Lviv ) is a territorial executive body in Lviv , which is part of the system of internal affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine . The main tasks of the department are to ensure the security, rights and freedoms of citizens, the suppression and detection of crimes, the protection of public order.

Control over the activities of the Lviv police is carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police , the mayor of Lviv, and the city council.
At present, the head of the Patrol Police Headquarters is Yuri Zozulya (since 2015).

History
Patrol Police Creation
On July 13, 2015 , the First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Eka Zguladze, announced that she was about to be recruited to Lvov’s patrol police. Recruitment to the police lasted from July 15 to August 7. Zguladze noted that if there are enough worthy candidates, the police will be able to maintain order in the streets of not only regional centers, but also smaller cities [3] . As after the Interior Minister Arsen Avakov noted, in Lviv there was the highest competition - 30 people per place. A total of 13 thousand questionnaires were submitted, of which about 600 listeners were selected [4] .
August 4, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the law "On the National Police ." On August 20, 2015 , the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, appointed Yuri Zozul to head the Lviv Central Patrol Administration, and also announced that the first 600 patrol police officers would take to the streets on August 23 [5] .
On August 23 , in the Market Square in front of the City Hall, more than 400 policemen took an oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Eka Zguladze-Gluksmann , leadership of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate of Ukraine in the Lviv region, heads of local authorities. The Minister of the Interior Avakov said that only 9.8% of those who served in the old militia would work in the city patrol police [4] .
