- In the summer of the “Almighty Campaign”, 100,000 Muslim soldiers set off on a campaign in the kingdom of Leon .
- The battle of Simancas . On August 6, the Christians of Ramiro II unexpectedly attack Muslims near Simankas and force them to retreat to the Alhangeda valley, where on August 21 the knightly cavalry sets up a real massacre for the Caliph troops. Chronicles report: “Hills, fields and forests remain dotted with Muslim corpses.” The battle involves the troops of all the Christian kings of Spain . Only 49 people, led by the caliph, returned to Cordoba .

The eruption also caused a decrease in the average summer temperatures of the next year in the northern hemisphere by 2 ° C [2] .
