History
Established in 1715. Since 1848, it has been called the Kaiser Regiment, because at various times the patrons of the regiment were the emperors of Austria - Franz I , Joseph II , Leopold II , Franz II , Ferdinand I and Franz Joseph I. The headquarters is Krakau , the place of recruitment of soldiers is Troppau . He participated in the Seven Years' War, the Napoleonic Wars and the Austro-Prussian War.
The regiment consisted of 4 battalions. In 1909, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th battalions were based in Troppau, the 1st - in Foca [4] . The national composition of the regiment as of 1914: 82% - Germans, 15% - Czechs, 3% - other nationalities [5] . In 1912, the command was completely transferred from Krakau to Troppau.
In 1914, the regiment went to the Italian front of the First World War, where he participated in several battles of the Isonzo [6] . In the same year, the 4th battalion and reserve battalion were transferred to Troppau, the 2nd and 3rd battalion to the garrison of Krakow, to the barracks of Crown Prince Rudolph on Varshavskaya Street, the 1st Battalion to Mostar . The regiment was subordinate to the 10th Infantry Brigade, 5th Infantry Division, 1st Corps . In August 1914, the 1st Battalion was included in the 1st Brigade with the 16th Corps [7] .
In the course of the so-called reforms Conrad from June 1918 the number of battalions was reduced to three [8] , and the 1st battalion was disbanded [9] .
