Biography

He served in the Austro-Hungarian army , and served in the 25th Domobran Zagreb Infantry Regiment (commanded the company in which Josip Broz Tito , a sergeant in the Yugoslav army, served [1] ). He participated in the First World War and fought against the Russian troops in the Battle of Galicia. He rose to the rank of captain, after the war he served in the Yugoslav royal army , rose to the rank of colonel. During the April war, he sided with the Germans and their allies, in the newly formed Independent State, Croatia joined the Croatian household [1] .

From October 1941 to November 1942, Tomashevich commanded the 2nd Infantry Division, and from November 1942 he was commander of the Lika coastal sector. At the end of 1943 he was appointed a communications officer in the 15th mountain building of the Wehrmacht [2] , at the beginning of 1944 he was promoted to general and from May to August 1944 he again commanded the Lika coastal sector. Security Commissioner GRAVSIGUR in the districts of Modrus, Vinodol-Pogorye, Lika-Gatska, Krbava-Psat, Bribir and Sana-Luka [1] .

In August 1944, during the Lorkovich-Vokic conspiracy, he offered his services to the Allies to help create an anti-communist Croatia without any stubbornness, but the conspiracy failed and his leaders were thrown into Lepoglava Prison and executed there just before the end of the war [3] .

In December 1944 he was appointed commander of the 10th Bihach Infantry Division. In May 1945, he tried to escape to Austria with the remains of the Ustasha, but was arrested by the partisans and extradited to the SFRY. He was convicted by a military tribunal for collaborating with the Ustashi and executed on September 19, 1945 [1] .
