Biography

Ivan G. Voeikov studied in the Ground Cadet Corps (1744-1748) [2] .

In 1748, he was sent to the commission on the demarcation of Ingermanland .

In 1749 he entered the Bryansk Polubensky Desert, where in 1750 he was first tonsured a Riasophore, and in 1755 at the Karachevsky Odrin Monastery he became a monk.

Produced as a hierodeacon and hieromonk , in 1760 he was identified as a builder in the Polubenskaya desert, and three years later he was promoted to abbess in the Odrin monastery .

Passing a difficult monastic and primary field in the last monastery, Juvenal passed with it another difficult obedience entrusted to him in the same 1763 - the position of the first ruler in the Karachevsk spiritual board. By his diligence, the latter in 1764 was transferred to the Odrino-Nikolaevsky monastery entrusted to him, despite the opposition of the entire Karachev clergy. The activities of Juvenal are also due to the best buildings of ancient buildings.

In 1767, Juvenal was transferred by the rector to the Novosilsky Spirits monastery, in 1775 - to the Vologda Kornilyev , where he stayed until April 12, 1784, when, according to his request, he was fired for illness in the stavropegic Novospassky monastery , where he died in 1807. .

Compositions

Voyeykov began to engage in historical research in the Kornilievsky monastery; in 1775, under his leadership, a "Description of the Korniliev Komelsky Monastery" was compiled.

Juvenal's specialization was genealogical research of Russian noble families. Most of them are custom-made work printed in a print run of 10 —— 20 copies. For the period 1779-1798 he compiled the genealogies of the Lopukhins, Saburovs, Prilonsky, Voeikovy, Yurov-Romanovs, Kropotovs, Karabanovs and other noble families. Some of the pedigrees were subsequently reprinted, some remained in handwritten form.

In genealogical research, he relied both on the information that the customers informed him and on published sources, widely involving materials published by Novikov in the Ancient Russian Vivlofik and Golikov in The Acts of Peter the Great.

Several poems belong to Peru Voeikova, published both in genealogies and separately as thanks to P. M. Shcherbatov, P. V. Khitrovo and others.

In 1798, he reprinted "Description of the marriage of Tsarevna Anna Petrovna with Karl Friedrich" (previously published in 1725) and "Supplement to a brief description of the life of Patriarch Filaret" (previously - 1790). In 1798, he published a speech dedicated to his longtime patron, Iakinf Karpinsky . For obscure reasons, this speech brought disgrace to Juvenal, and by decree of Paul I the Synod on October 8, 1798 strictly forbade the publication of any of his works. In case of violation of the ban, Voeikov was threatened with deportation from Moscow to a remote diocese.

Apparently, after the accession of Alexander I, the decree was canceled, since Juvenal published several descriptions of monasteries and churches, including “A Brief Historical Description of the Moscow Novospassky Monastery” (Moscow, 1802).
