In 1512, a Catholic parish was established in Mstibovo [2] . The constructed wooden church burned down several times, then rebuilt again. In 1910, it was dismantled for the construction of a new stone church, and a wooden building of plebania was built from building materials [3] .
In 1910-1919, on the site of the old one, a new stone neo-Gothic Catholic church of St. John the Baptist [1] . In 1932, he was solemnly consecrated [2] .
In 1943, fascist invaders shot the rector of the church, Mark Burak, along with 50 parishioners [3] .
Architecture
The church is a two-tower neo-Gothic temple with a transept , a three-sided apse and two vestries . The main western facade consists of three parts: the central part, completed by a triangular shield, and two side two-tier towers, completed by curly tents. Above the main entrance there is a three-arch window. The side facades are divided by two-tier beam openings, on the first tier between the windows there are step buttresses . The corners of the towers, transept and apse are flanked by stepped buttresses [1] .
In the interior stands out a wooden two-tier carved altar of St. John of the 19th century, located in the north wing of the transept [1] . Also in the temple are stored several valuable icons of the 18th-19th centuries.
The territory of the temple is surrounded by a stone fence, in which a two-story brama-bell tower, built in 1900, is built in [4] .
