History
The first generation CLK was introduced in 1996, 3 years after the release of the Mercedes-Benz W202 C-Class models.
In 2003, Bernd Schneider , driving a Mercedes-Benz C209, won the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race [1] .
In 2004, on the basis of the winning C209 CLK-class , a special version of the car was released under the name CLK DTM AMG [1] , which met the specifications of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters racing car series , where one of the conditions was the use of atmospheric 4.0 L V8 engines and a power limit of up to 500 horsepower. 100 models in the coupe [1] [3] and 100 convertibles [1] were released for sale in Europe using the AMG V8 5.4 liter engine with a supercharger that delivered a power of 428 kW (582 hp) and 800 N · m . Front and rear track widened by 74 and 110 mm, respectively. Special tires and suspension modification allowed the car to get 13 m / s 2 lateral acceleration. Acceleration to 100 km / h was 3.9 seconds, the maximum speed was electronically limited to 320 km / h (200 mph).
The cost of the car in Germany amounted to 236060 euros [4] , taking into account the payment of all taxes. CLK DTM AMG was produced only in 2004 , and the first batch of cars was provided only by special order or invitation.
The CLK DTM AMG in the body of a convertible was produced until 2006 . His speed limit was reduced to 300 km / h.
The owners of the rare Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG car are Juan Pablo Montoya (former McLaren Formula 1 racer) and Mika Hakkinen (performed in the DTM 2005-2007). In addition, the owners of the CLK DTM version with a hard roof are Kimi Raikkonen [5] and Jenson Button [6] .
