Men's triathlon competitions at the first European Games took place on June 14th . 57 athletes from 37 countries took part. The competition distance was located on the beach of Bilgah Baku .
After the first stage, the Slovak athlete Richard Varga took the lead, quite a bit, ahead of the nearest pursuer of the Swiss Andrea Zalvisberg . But during the run Varga rolled back beyond the prize troika, and the Portuguese Joao Silva came out on top. But shortly before the finish of the race, Briton Gordon Benson made his way to the first place and in the end he became the champion of the first European Games. Silva came to the finish line second, and Azerbaijani triathlete Rostislav Pevtsov closed the top three winners.

Triathlon competitions included three disciplines: Open water swimming, cycling and running.
Triathlon Distances:
Swimming - 1.5 km (2 laps);
Cycling - 40 km (6 laps);
Running - 9.945 km (3 laps).
