Cornelian came from the Volusian clan. Little is known about the biography. He may have been the son or grandson of the 92-year-old consul Quintus Volusius Saturnin . In 174, Cornelian served as ordinary consul along with Lucius Aurelius Gall . The name Cornelian is mentioned in the Roman papyrus dating from the period between 193 and 197. The papyrus, which is written in Latin and Greek, contains a list of soldiers, possibly cavalrymen. The papyrus was probably later reused as an envelope for writing [1] .
