In 1012, the grandfather of Pierre Raymond Roger I Old , who survived his son, died. His inheritance was shared by two grandchildren. Pierre Raymond as a senior received Bezier, Agde and part of the county of Carcassonne, the other part went to his younger brother Guillaume Raymond.
Guillaume Raymond died in 1034, and power in part of the county of Carcassonne passed to his uncle, Bishop Gerona Pierre Roger, who was at first regent under the young grand-nephews, then he reigned as count.
Bishop Pierre Roger passed away in 1050, bequeathing his possessions not to his nephews and their children, but to his cousin Roger I de Foix , who declared himself count of part of Carcassonne under the name Roger II.
Pierre Raymond of Carcassonne died around 1061. He was married to Rangard, who is considered the daughter of either Guillaume III of Toulouse or Bernard I de La March .
