Mochulino

Mochulino ( Belorussian. Machulina ) is a village in the Krasnoselsky village council of the Volkovysk district of the Grodno region of the Republic of Belarus . The population of 411 people (2009) [1] .

Geography

The village is located 3 km southeast of the village of Krasnoselsky and 8 km north of the center of Volkovysk . A little west of the village, the Ross River flows and the Volkovysk- Mosty railway line passes (the nearest Ross station is 7 km from Mochulin). On the eastern outskirts of the village runs highway P44 .

History

The village has been known since the middle of the 16th century. Belonged to Prince Shch. Golovchinsky , who in 1553 built a church here (not preserved). In 1578, the estate passed to the Olend family, who rebuilt the Catholic church into a Calvinist one . The local toponym “Calvinist Mountain” has been preserved [2] .

As a result of the third division of the Commonwealth (1796), Mochulino became part of the Russian Empire , in the Volkovysk district of the Grodno province , but the Olendskys continued to own the estate. In the XIX century they built a large palace in the estate in the style of classicism (not preserved) [3] .

According to the Riga Peace Treaty (1921), Mochulino became part of the interwar Polish Republic , in the Volkovysk district of the Bialystok Voivodeship . Since 1939, as part of the BSSR .
