Qualification

Greco-Roman wrestling competitions among men in the under 98 kg category at the first European Games were held on June 13 . 22 athletes from 22 countries took part. Competitions were held in the sports arena named after Heydar Aliyev .

Islam Magomedov won the tournament, bringing the Russian team for the third gold medal on the wrestling mat for that day. The second place was taken by Ukrainian athlete Dmitry Timchenko . The 2014 World Champion Frenchman Melonen Numonvi and Turk Jenk Ildem won bronze medals.
