Castellar ( French Castellar ) is a commune in the south-east of France in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region , the Alpes-Maritimes department , Nice district , Menton canton [1] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Menton Est (Nice County).

Economics
In 2010, out of 636 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years old), 485 were economically active , 151 inactive (activity indicator 76.3%, in 1999 - 71.5%). Of the 485 active able-bodied residents, 442 people worked (227 men and 215 women), 43 were unemployed (18 men and 25 women). Among 151 able-bodied inactive citizens, 49 were pupils or students , 54 were pensioners , and another 48 were inactive for other reasons [7] [8] .
Throughout 2010, there were 388 taxable households in the commune , in which 922.0 people lived. The median income was 23 thousand 041 euros per taxpayer [9] .
