Gennady Shumov (died October 21, 1811 , Moscow ) - Archimandrite of the Moscow Holy Cross Monastery of the Moscow Diocese and the prefect of the Moscow Theological Academy of the Russian Orthodox Church .

Biography
After studying at the Trinity Lavra Seminary in 1800, he was appointed an informant for the Latin language at the Moscow Theological Academy [1] .
In 1801 he was transferred to Perervinskaya Theological Seminary and took the veil [1] .
In 1803, Gennady was appointed preacher of the Moscow Theological Academy; in 1808, he was elevated to the hegumen of the Znamensky monastery in the city ββof Moscow, and in July of the same year, he became the prefect of the Moscow Theological Academy [1] .
In 1810, Gennady, remaining a prefect, was transferred to the Moscow Holy Cross Monastery of the Moscow Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church with the elevation to the rank of archimandrite [1] .
He died on October 21, 1811, before the invasion of French troops into Russia and the subsequent plunder of the monastery entrusted to him by them [1] .
His words were printed for the burial of Count Osterman, P. D. Eropkin and actual privy councilor V. P. Saltykov and on the birthdays of Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich and Russian Empress Elisaveta Alekseevna [2] [1] .
