Pavilion History
In 1935, the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR adopted a resolution on the creation in Moscow of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition, which was to open on August 1, 1937. One of the wooden pavilions built by this time was intended for expositions of the Byelorussian SSR , Yaroslavl , Ivanovo and Kalinin regions. But then it was decided to build another 6 pavilions, and transfer this to the Belarusian SSR [1] [2] .
In 1939, the building was demolished, and in its place, under the leadership of architects V. N. Simbirtsev and V. S. Balikhin, a new building was erected, adorned with A. N. Orlov's sculpture group “Border Guard and Collective Farm Girl” (not preserved) [3] [ 4] .
On April 6, 1949, the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Byelorussian SSR “On Designing the Pavilion of the Byelorussian SSR at the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition” was issued in Moscow, which adopted the project presented by architects G. A. Zakharov (monument architect F. E. Dzerzhinsky at Lubyanka) and his wife Z S. Chernysheva. The exposition area of the pavilion was determined at 1,500 m², the total cubic capacity of the stone building at 15,000 cubic meters. The construction began on July 2, 1949, completed on August 25, 1954. The facade of the three-story building was a monumental colonnade of two rows, crowned with GOVERNMENTAL garlands, imitating Belarusian embroidered towels with colors of the national flag of the republic -. yellow and green In the colonnade was a semi-circular inner courtyard, paved with ceramic mosaic tiles decorated with frescoes Yard "The people of Belarus have built socialism" (Hungarian artists BF Witz and Ukrainian. O. T. Pavlenko ) and the sculptural group of Belarusian partisans (not preserved). The pavilion was crowned with gold smalt allegorical sculpture-tower "Motherland" - a woman with a wreath on her head holding a sheaf (sculptor A. O. Bembel ) [5] [6] . In the middle of the exposition hall stood the sculptural group “V. I. Lenin and JV Stalin ”, above it is a dome with lucarnes imitating windows. The floors with their pattern resembled traditional Belarusian embroidery . The exhibition hall was illuminated with second-light windows around the entire perimeter of the southern, eastern and western facades, as well as bronze three-tier crystal chandeliers. The pavilion was an outstanding example of the synthesis of art, architecture, sculpture, easel painting and folk ornamental creativity [7] [8] .
After the decision to make the pavilions of VDNKh branch, here in 1963 there was an exhibition "Electrical Engineering", the pavilion was placed at the disposal of the USSR Ministry of Electrical Engineering. The columns were sewn up with metal panels, the sculptural groups were removed and they disappeared, the second light windows were covered with fiberglass, mosaic floors were covered with marble tiles [9] .
In the 1990s worked as a shopping center. As a permanent exhibition hall opened on October 11, 2008. By 2015, it is a 3-story building with a total area of 2471 m², equipped with all necessary communications and engineering systems [10] .
