Luzyanin, Sergey Gennadievich

Sergei Gennadievich Luzyanin (born July 23, 1956 ) is a Russian historian - an orientalist , an expert on international relations in East Asia , the domestic and foreign policies of the PRC , Mongolia , and security problems in the Asia-Pacific region and Central Asia .

Biography

He graduated with honors from the Irkutsk State Pedagogical Institute with a degree in History (1977).

In 1984, at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, he defended his thesis “China in Russian-Mongolian Relations 1911-1919.”

In the 1990s, he was engaged in teaching in Russian regions. Doctoral dissertation: "Russia - Mongolia - China in the first half of the XX century." (IV RAS, 1994). In 1998, he completed an internship at the Institute. J. Olin, Harvard University , USA (seminar of Professor S. Huntington ).

Deputy Head of the Center " Russia - China " Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1999-2001). In 2001-2002, he trained at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China ( Beijing );

In 2001-2009, he was co-director of the Master's program "Regions of Asia and Africa" ​​in the field of "International Regional Studies" MGIMO (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation , since 2005 professor of the Department of Oriental Studies, director of the international research center " Russia - ASEAN " MGIMO.

In 2004-2007 - Assistant to the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the IV convocation .

From 2009 to November 2014, he was First Deputy Director for Science at the Institute of the Far East (IFES) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the Center for Strategic Problems of North-East Asia and the SCO Institute, professor at the Department of Oriental Studies, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Since November 2014 - Acting Director of the Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and Higher School of Economics (part-time job), president of the Foundation for the Support of Oriental Studies.

Since July 2016 - Director of the IFES RAS [5] .

He speaks Chinese , English and Mongolian .
