Bernadette Sands-McKevitt (born in November 1958 in Newtownabby [2] ) is a Northern Irish politician, founder of the Sovereignty Movement of 32 counties [3] [4] , and a member of the Genuine Irish Republican Army.

Biography
Born in the city of Newtownabby, in the loyalist quarter of Ratkul. The younger sister of Bobby Sands , who died in prison in 1981 after a long hunger strike (could not attend the funeral) [5] . At an early age, she moved with her family to West Belfast (the Catholic district of the city) after the loyalists drove the family out of the house [1] . Supported from an early age the Irish nationalist movement.
In 1997, Bernadette founded the 32 Counties Sovereignty Movement , a political party representing the interests of the Authentic Republican Army and advocating Northern Irelandβs accession to the Republic of Ireland. Condemns the signing of the Belfast Agreement , arguing that her brother was not dying for this.
Husband - Michael McKevitt , the chief quartermaster of the Irish Republican Army and one of the founders of the Genuine IRA [5] . There are three children [6] .
