Selenginsky district ( Selenginsky district ) is an administrative-territorial unit within the Transbaikal region of the Russian Empire . The administrative center is the city of Selenginsk .

Content
History
It was founded in 1872 as the Selenginsky district .
In 1901, the Selenginsky district was renamed the Selenginsky district .
In 1920, the territory of the county on the right bank of the Selenga River became part of the Pribaikalsky region proclaimed on April 6, 1920, of the Far Eastern Republic (FER).
In 1921, the Selenginsky district was liquidated, its territory became part of the newly formed Buryat-Mongol Autonomous Region of the Far East.
Population
According to the 1897 census, 102 158 people lived in the okrug, including [2] :
- Buryats - 59.6%,
- Russians - 37.3%
- Evenki - 1.6%.
