Ian Milne ( born Ian Milne , born April 8, 1954 in Bellagi [1] ) is a Northern Irish politician, Irish Republican, and nationalist .

Biography
A native of Bellagi, Milne joined the youth movement Fianna Eirin , the political wing of the Official IRA , but then a year later went to the Provisional IRA . In 1971, he was arrested for the explosion of a car in which he himself traveled. He was sent to prison on Crumlin Road, from where he escaped in January 1973. A year later, he was arrested by the Irish authorities for stealing a police car, for which he was sentenced to 5 years. From Portlaos prison, he nevertheless escaped and fled to Northern Ireland [2] . In the mid-1970s, he was one of the three most dangerous criminals, according to the Royal Ulster Police . In 1977, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a British soldier. Milne, who was serving his sentence in Long Cash Prison, participated in a blanket protest . In 1992, he was released [2] .
In 2005, Milne participated in local elections in Northern Ireland and was nominated as a candidate by Sinn Fein in Magerafelt County. In 2011, he won the local elections to the city council [3] ; for some time he was its chairman. In 2013, he received his seat in the Northern Ireland Assembly from Central Ulster, succeeding Frances Molloy. [4]
