Roger Lowell Putnam ( born Roger Lowell Putnam ; December 19, 1893, Boston - November 24, 1972, Springfield ) is an American politician and businessman. Descended from the famous Boston clan Lowell. He was mayor of Springfield, Massachusetts , from 1937 to 1943, director of the administration of economic stabilization from 1951 to 1952.

Putnam was also a trustee at the Lowell Observatory , which in every way provided financial support. He bought three new telescopes for the observatory, and also moved the search for the so-called Planet X [1] [2] .
