A colleague of Guy Curtius on the post was Mark Genutius Avgurin . During their consulates, the people's tribune, Guy Kanuley, put forward legislative initiatives to allow mixed marriages between representatives of the plebs and patricians and on admission of plebeians to consular posts. The consuls opposed both initiatives. They attempted to compromise by agreeing with mixed marriages, but defending the patrician monopoly on the consulate, but the tribunes refused to give in.

Curtius and Genucius could not oppose the stands openly through the Senate and therefore were forced to confer with the most influential senators face to face. It was decided to allow the election of new officials instead of consuls - military tribunes with consular authority, and to elect them from among all the citizens [1] .

Elections of the first military tribunes were held by Guy Curtius. Due to the fact that he did not quite correctly put up a tent for bird guesses , the stands had to resign after three months [2] . Nothing is known about the future fate of Guy Curtius.
