Biography

Trofim Blazhchuk (literary pseudonym - Ognevik) [1] was born on April 14 (27 according to the new style) in April 1904 in the village of Dzvonikha (now Tyvrovsky district , Vinnytsia region ) into a peasant family. His parents - Pyotr Ivanovich and Oksana Andreevna - worked on the lands of the local landowner Yaroshinsky. Blazhchuk studied at a rural parish school, continued his studies at the Tyvrov Theological School. Since 1922, he attended the Higher Three-year Pedagogical Courses named after I. Frank in Vinnitsa , where he was carried away by literature and history. In 1923, Blazhchuk transferred to the Kamenetz-Podolsk Institute of Public Education . Since 1924 he began his studies at the Odessa Institute of Public Education , which he graduated in 1926 and returned to Tyvrov to teach and engage in literary activities.

Blazhchuk was the founder and secretary (March-October 1924) of the Vinnitsa branch of the All-Ukrainian Union of Peasant Writers " Plow ". Twice, in 1924 and 1926, participated in the first and third congresses of the Union of Peasant Writers. In 1935-1937, Blazhchuk worked as a teacher of the Ukrainian language in the schools of Tyvrov and Sutisok , since 1937 he worked as a head teacher at the school in Vinnitsa, and subsequently served as inspector of the Vinnitsa city department of public education.

Trofim Blazhchuk died on September 10, 1940 from tuberculosis, which he became ill after hypothermia as a result of the incident, when in the fall of 1939 the tram in which he was traveling in Vinnitsa fell from the bridge to the Southern Bug .

Literary activity

Blazhchuk began active literary and journalistic activities in 1922. He wrote lyric poems, fables, humoresques, feuilletons, translations, and articles. He was a correspondent for several proletarian newspapers at once - Krasnoye Selo, Young Unprincipled, Krasny Krai, Molodoye Selo, as well as the Tyvrovsky district newspaper Udarnik Sotsstroitelstva (now known as Mayak), founded in March 1932. . Blazhchuk’s works were also published in the almanac “Plow”, the magazine “Red Flowers”, the collective collection “October Flowers” ​​(1926), and in the Ukrainian school textbook for grades 5-6 (1925). Prepared for publication a collection of his own poems [2] .

The leading theme of Blazhchuk’s work is social transformations in Ukraine , youth participation in them. His poems praise the "new life", they are characterized by a typical "plow" elevation, invocability, widespread use of marching and song rhythms, new Soviet vocabulary [3] .
