But in view of the disagreement that arose between the squadron commanders, the Dane Harp, after the squadron was surrendered, he was released to St. Petersburg, and with him the officers taken from the Danish service, including Bazbal, returned. Left in the Russian service, in 1772, after commanding a practical squadron in the Baltic, he was appointed commander-in-chief of the port of Revel and promoted to rear admiral . In this rank, Bazbal was sent with a squadron to the Archipelago to strengthen our naval forces there, and he sailed until 1775, after which he returned with a squadron assigned to him to Kronstadt, and was awarded the Order of Saint Anna of the 1st degree. But next year, in 1776, Bazbal left the Russian service, having received an award of 4,000 rubles for his dismissal. Such a short-term his service is explained by the need of the time when the government of Catherine II , equipping the ships of the Baltic Fleet for the first yet foreign voyage, was in great need of experienced foreign seamen, who could not be kept later if they expressed their desire to leave the Russian service.
