Biography
Born in 1792, in the village of Kobylino, Arzamas district, Nizhny Novgorod province . After graduating from the Nizhny Novgorod Theological Seminary , in 1810 he entered the St. Petersburg Pedagogical Institute , where he devoted himself to the study of mainly physical and mathematical sciences. In 1815 he graduated from the course and was determined as a teacher of physics and mathematics at the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum and in a noble boarding house at the Lyceum; two years later he was awarded the title of Associate Professor. He was promoted to the rank of court adviser .
He published The Pocket Book for Barometric Leveling (1824) and translated several articles on optics and mechanics.
He died on January 27 ( February 8 ), 1828 in Tsarskoye Selo at the 36th year of his life. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Bolshoi Kuzmina, near Tsarskoye Selo [1] .
