Mikhail Fedorovich Salminov was born on May 1, 1898 in Astrakhan .

Military Service

World War I and Civil War

In May 1917, he was drafted into the ranks of the Russian Imperial Army , and in January 1918 - in the ranks of the Red Army , after which he was sent by the Red Army 1st Astrakhan Cavalry Regiment. In May 1919, he was appointed platoon commander of a separate cavalry division of the Chernoyarsk military sector, and in September 1920, commander of a platoon platoon special purpose division of the 11th army headquarters. He took part in hostilities against the troops under the command of generals A. I. Denikin and P. N. Wrangel on the Southern , South-Eastern and Caucasian fronts .

At the end of 1920, Salminov was sent to study at the 1st Moscow Cavalry School .

Interwar Time

After graduating from school in January 1923, he was appointed political officer of a squadron of the 5th Zaamursky cavalry regiment ( North Caucasus Military District ), in March 1924 - as political officer of a squadron of the 43rd cavalry regiment, and in July 1925 - as a squadron commander 89th Cavalry Regiment. In October 1926, he was sent to study for cavalry refresher courses for commanders in Novocherkassk , after which in August 1927 he returned to the 89th Cavalry Regiment to its former position.

After graduating from the MV Frunze Military Academy in August 1932, Salminov was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the 8th Mechanized Regiment ( OKDVA ), in January 1937 - to the position of commander of a tank battalion of the 92nd rifle division , and then - the post of chief of staff of the 2nd mechanized brigade ( 1st Red Banner Army ).

In 1939, he was appointed as a teacher, then as a senior teacher of tactics, in July 1940, as head of the training department of the Leningrad armored advanced training courses for command personnel, and in November, head of the 1st department (combat training) of the armored personnel department of the Leningrad military District

Great Patriotic War

Since the beginning of the war, Salminov was in his former position as part of the Leningrad Front . In January 1942 he was appointed to the post of deputy chief of the armored directorate directorate of the same front. During the battle for Leningrad, he led the fighting of the tanks of the 55th Army , which from October 1941 to December 1942 led the defensive and offensive operations, and from February 1943 took part in the course of the Krasnoborsk-Smerdyn offensive , during which it participated in the liberation of the village of Krasny Bor and other settlements.

In May 1943 he was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the commander of the armored and mechanized forces of the Red Army, after which he repeatedly went to the army. As part of the 3rd Guards Tank Army, he took part in the Kiev offensive operation and the crossing of the Dnieper .

In September 1944, Salminov was sent to study at an accelerated course of the Higher Military Academy named after KE Voroshilov , after which in March 1945 he was appointed commander of the 12th Guards Tank Corps , who soon took part in the Berlin offensive operation .

Post War Career

After the war, Salminov continued to command the corps as part of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany , which at the end of June 1945 was transformed into the 12th Guards Tank Division , and Salminov was appointed its commander.

In June 1947 he was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the 2nd Guards Mechanized Army , in March 1949 - to the post of head of the department of tactics of higher formations, in May 1951 - to the post of 1st Deputy Chief of the Military Academy of armored and mechanized troops , June 1952 - to the post of inspector general of armored and mechanized troops, and in May 1953 - to the post of inspector general of the Inspectorate of tank forces of the Main Inspectorate of the USSR Ministry of Defense .

Lieutenant-General of Tank Forces Mikhail Fedorovich Salminov in September 1954 went to the reserve. Died January 29, 1977 in Moscow .
