History
The title of Count Stradbrock was created on July 18, 1821 for John Rowse, 1st Baron Rows (1750–1827), who previously represented Suffolk in the House of Commons (1780–1796).
In 1771, after the death of his father Sir John Rowse, the 5th Baronet (1727–1771), John Rouse inherited the title of the 6th Baronet from Henham. In 1796, the title of Baron Rous of Dennington was created for him in Suffolk County ( Peerage of Great Britain ). In 1821, together with the count title, he was given the title of Viscount Dunwich in Suffolk County.
In 1827, he was succeeded by his eldest son, John Edward Cornwallis Rouse, 2nd Earl Stradbrock (1794–1886), who served as Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk County (1844–1886). His son, George Rowse, 3rd Earl of Stradbrock (1862–1947), was the governor of the Australian state of Victoria (1920–1926) and Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk (1935–47). He was succeeded by his eldest son, John Rose, the 4th Earl of Straedbroke (1903-1983), who was also Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk (1948-1978).
As of 2010 , the title holder was his nephew, Keith Rouse, 6th Earl Stradbrok (born 1937 ), who succeeded his father in 1983 .

The title of baronet from Henham in Suffolk County ( Baronet of England ) was created in 1660 for John Rose (c. 1608-1670). He sat in the House of Commons from the districts Dunwich and Ay . His son, John Rose, 2nd Baronet (c. 1656-1730), represented Danwich and Suffolk in the House of Commons. After his death, the title passed to his son, John Rous, 3rd Baronet (c. 1676-1731), who was also a member of parliament for Danvich . His nephew, John Rowse, 5th Baronet (1727-1771), represented Suffolk in the House of Commons. He was succeeded by his son, the aforementioned John Rose, the 6th Baronet (1750–1827), who was later elevated to the rank of peer .
