History

Station Design

From the very beginning, the station was designed as vaulted [4] , and it was supposed to finish it with a “cosmic” bias. On the columns (appeared in the process) of “unearthly structures”, the authors proposed to use polished stainless steel, and use black tinted stemalite for wall decoration. As a result, they did not apply stemalite - they did not find it, and the manufacturer could not manufacture stainless steel without defects [1] .

The station ceiling, painted in dark blue (almost black) color, is practically invisible behind a light volumetric lattice structure of thin pipes, into which small spotlights are mounted, creating the illusion of a dark starry sky (“outer space”) [1] .

Invisible beam coverings rely on slender metal columns that are associated with rows of rockets aimed at space. The floor is made of gray granite with red straight intersecting lines [1] .

Construction

Builders began to carry out piling work on the site of the future station on February 20, 1988. The work was carried out by the management of mechanization. A day later, the start of the left distillation tunnel began in the direction of " Krasny Prospekt " [5] .

Already at the beginning of June, metro builders were already starting to assemble prefabricated reinforced concrete structures. By October 20, the STP station was ready (in construction) [5] .

As of April 3, 1991, finishing work was in full swing at the station. There was still rail laying [6] .

Start

Nevertheless, the launch took place only on April 2, 1992 [3] .

Architecture and Design

Type of construction - columned, island shallow station , with two rows of columns. The project was carried out by the Novosibmetroproekt Institute and is similar to the Marshala Pokryshkina station: 17 pairs of columns spaced 6 meters apart.

The walls are faced with granite and marble with stainless steel inserts. The station has columns covered with polished stainless steel sheets. The ceiling above the platform is painted blue, a spatial construction of pipes is suspended from it, into which spotlights are mounted in order to create an “illusion of outer space” [3] .

In April 2011, in connection with the 50th anniversary of the first manned flight into space, the walls were decorated with panels in the form of portholes with portraits of Yuri Gagarin, and the station's color scheme became silver-purple [7] [8] .

Lobbies and Transplants

The station design includes two vestibules. Both with staircases. However, until the end of 2003, only one worked, combined with the underpass under Krasniy Prospekt (entrances No. 1 and No. 2). In the second there was a fair. Since April 2011, posters with information on the development of astronautics have been placed on the walls of the lobby.

Track Development

The station has no track development.

Station in numbers

  • The length of the station, as at all stations of the Novosibirsk Metro, is standard - 102 m, which allows you to put up to five cars on the way (currently 4-car trains are used). The length of the landing platform is 100 m [9] The width of the platform is 10 m [1]
  • In 2017, the average daily passenger traffic at the station was 13.6 thousand people. Thus, Gagarinskaya is the least busy station on the Lenin line and the 10th busiest station on the Novosibirsk metro.
  • Picket PC 34 + 87.
  • The length of the haul to the Zaeltsovskaya station is 927 meters [10] , which makes it the shortest in the Novosibirsk metro . The length of the haul to the Krasny Prospekt station is 1118 meters.
  • The opening time of the station for passengers to enter is 05 hours 45 minutes, the closing time is 00 hours 00 minutes. The dummy transition works from 05 hours 30 minutes to 01 hours 00 minutes [11]
