Schetinkina Street (Novosibirsk)

Shchetankin Street (until 1927 - Barnaulskaya [1] ) - a street in the Railway and Central regions of Novosibirsk. Consists of three parts not connected to each other.

The first part of the street begins in the administrative-residential quarter between Dimitrov Avenue , Revolution Street and an unnamed street that runs along the tracks of the West Siberian Railway, crosses Revolution Street , after which it forms a T-junction with Uritsky Street . The second part starts from Krasny Prospekt and ends adjacent to Serebrennikovskaya Street . The third part is located in a residential quarter between the streets of the Military , Hippodrome and the Shamshins , together with which it forms a T-shaped intersection. It ends opposite the Aura shopping center (~ 52 m).

Title

The street is named after P.E. Shchetinkin , the leader of the Soviet partisan movement in Siberia during the Civil War.

History

In the year 1926, the 2nd obstetric and gynecological hospital opened on the street in house number 45, in 1927 a physical therapy clinic (house number 46), in 1929 an addiction clinic (house number 42), and in 1936 a children's clinical hospital [2 ] .

Monuments

  • The arrest house is a two-story building constructed in 1915. In 1918, members of the presidium of the Novonikolayevsky Council of Workers 'and Soldiers' Deputies, who were killed by white whales on June 4, 1918 while being transferred from the house of detention to the guardhouse of the Military Town, were detained here [3] .
  • The Prombank of the USSR is a building erected in 1925 by architects G. G. Goltz and V. A. Shvidkovsky. Later, two floors were built on it. In the 1950s, the building was reconstructed, after which it acquired the features of a Stalinist empire. Currently (as of 2015), the Novosibirsk City Hall is located in the building [4] .
  • Hospital on Shchetinkina - a neoclassical building in the crossroads of Shchetinkin and Sovetskaya streets, built in 1928. An architectural monument of regional significance [5] [6] .
  • Shchetinkina Street No. 36 is an apartment building built in the mid-1930s. The architect is A.N. Shiryaev . The style of the building contains elements of constructivism and Soviet classicism [7] .
