Konrad Mannert ( him. Konrad Mannert ; April 17, 1756 , Altdorf bei Nuremberg , Elector of Bavaria - September 27, 1834 , Munich) - German historian and geographer, professor. Member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences (since 1827).

Biography
The son of a surgeon. In 1778-1783 he studied at the University of Altdorf . In 1784 he became a teacher in Nuremberg .
Since 1796 - Professor of History at the University of Altdorf , in 1805 - at the University of Würzburg , in 1807 - at the University of Landshut in Munich , from 1826 - lectured at the University of Munich Ludwig Maximilian . From 1797 - full professor of history and oriental languages.
From 1803 he supervised the cartographic publishing house Homann Landkartenoffizin in Nuremberg, where he published a large number of geographical maps.
He died in Munich in 1834
Scientific Activities
The works of Conrad Mannert are characterized by a thorough study of primary sources.
The author of the capital, still important work on ancient geography and to study the ancient world: "Geographie der Griechen und Römer" ("Geography of the Greeks and Romans", Nuremberg, Leipzig and Landsgut, 1788-1825), on which he worked almost all his life .
Other writings: Die älteste Geschichte Bojariens und seine Bewohner (Sulzbach, 1807), Kaiser Ludwig IV der Bayer (Landsgut, 1812), Geschichte Bayerns (Lpts., 1826).
