History
“Say” was written by John Mayer for the film “ So far I haven’t played in the box ” with the participation of Hollywood superstars Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman , who met in the hospital, facing an inevitable death and deciding to “explode” one hundred percent. The song received positive reviews from music critics and online publications, for example, Billboard magazine called it a “rhythmic, bittersweet ballad” [1] . In the USA, "Say" reached number 12 in May 2008 [2] on the Billboard Hot 100 [3] and No. 8 charts on the Hot Digital Songs [4] digital chart, exceeding its debut single " No Such Thing ", becoming its highest figure in the Hot 100. The single was certified in the platinum status of the RIAA , [5] due to the circulation of more than 2 million copies in the United States [6] . He also reached number 17 on the Pop 100 [7] pop chart and No. 6 on the Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks [8] radio broadcast chart.
In 2009, the song received a Grammy Award in the category of Best Male Vocal Pop Performance and a nomination in the category Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media [9] . ASCAP Awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in the Most Performed Songs category [10] .
