Career

Teixeira began his career in the local Londrina team in his home country [3] . At the age of 16, he decided to move to Europe and signed a contract with the Slovak youth team Kosice [4] . In 2009, Dionatan was watched by a number of English teams, such as Middlesbrough , Blackburn Rovers , Newcastle United and Manchester City [5] . Teixeira returned to Kosice in April 2009 and made his team debut on April 18, 2009 in a match against Dubnica club [6] . Due to the lack of chances of joining Kosice, Dionatan went on loan to Slovan , but never played a match for the club. Teixera left Kosice in the summer of 2012 and, after spending several matches for an amateur club, joined the Banik team from Slovakia 's First League . In March 2013, he joined the team of the Slovak Super League Dukla .

In January 2014, he was watched by the English club Reading and Stoke City in March 2014 [7] .

On June 11, 2014, Dionatan signed a three-year contract with Stoke City, after the player’s purchase, CEO Tony Scholes said: “We followed the rapidly progressing Dionatan for some time, and we are glad that we got this player, there is no doubt that he is a talented player with great potential ” [8] [9] .

The beginning of Dionathan’s career at Stoke City was complicated by the fact that he broke his leg in training, this injury did not allow him to play most of the 2014/15 season [10] . He made his debut for Stoke City on February 21, 2015, replacing his match against Aston Villa .

He died on November 5, 2017 as a result of a heart attack [11] .

International Career

Teixeira played in the Brazilian national team until the age of 17 , until he received a Slovak passport in 2013 [12] .

Game Style

Stoke City coach Mark Hughes described Dionatan as a left-leaning defender, who has a large physique, but despite this, is quite mobile, and compared him to Ryan Nelsen , who played with Hughes in Blackburn .
