Biography

Alexey Petrovich Afanasenko was born on May 27, 1925 into a peasant family in a village in the village of Vorohanovka (now the Ugra district of Smolensk region ). He graduated from the 7th grade of the school. Worked on a collective farm.

In the years of World War II in January 1942 he joined the partisan detachment "Northern Bear", operating in the Smolensk region. Later, the detachment joined the 329th rifle division, which was surrounded by Vyazma [1] .

Since March 1942, Afanasenko on the fronts of World War II.

The scout of the 429th separate reconnaissance company of the 371st rifle division, Private Afanasenko, on the night of December 5, 1944 near the Stallupenen point in East Prussia (currently the city of Nesterov in the Kaliningrad Region ) as part of the reconnaissance group penetrated the enemy’s trench and ensured the capture of the “language” . December 10, 1944 he was ordered by division to be awarded the Order of Glory 3rd degree.

On January 13, 1945, near the populated Punk Shlossberg in East Prussia (currently the village of Dobrovolsk, Kaliningrad Region), Afanasenko burst into the enemy’s trench and carried the fighters behind him, destroyed a machine gun crew with a grenade and captured one soldier. On February 9, 1945, by order of the army, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On February 11, 1945, in the area of ​​the settlement of Zollniken (currently Medovoye, 23 km from the settlement of Preisisch-Eylau (now the city of Bagrationovsk ), Afanasenko was wounded, was bandaged and returned to battle, continuing to carry out the combat mission, destroyed 4 enemy soldiers and captured two. In the same battle he was shell-shocked. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 23, 1945 he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

On February 26, 1945, as part of a group of scouts, repelled an enemy counterattack, destroying 12 enemy soldiers from a machine gun and capturing two of them. March 13, 1945 awarded the Order of the Red Star .

March 3, 1945 in the village of Korshelken, southwest of Konigsberg Afanasenko with a light machine gun, bypassing the enemy from the flank, entered into battle with him. The enemy lost 4 soldiers, and during the retreat, the enemy threw 2 easel machine guns. When trying to counterattack, Afanasenko destroyed three more enemy soldiers. On April 22, 1945, Private Afanasenko was awarded the medal “For Courage” .

Later, the foreman Afanasenko fought on the Far Eastern Front [2] .

After demobilization, Alexei Petrovich Afanasenko lived in the city of Krivoy Rog , worked as an electrician at the Giant mine.

He died on December 3, 1972 in the city of Krivoy Rog .
