Content
Etymology
The name of the village comes from the Talysh words “әрч” (mill) and “van” (dwelling) [1] .
History
Archivan was first mentioned on maps in 1850 [2]
In 1964, a film was shot in the village.
The status of the village was assigned by decree of the President of Azerbaijan on December 11, 2012 [3] .
Infrastructure
There is a post office in the village.
There is also a clinic, a recreation area, a memorial and a hotel.
The Astara television tower and the Astara thermal power station [4] [5] are located in Archivan.
In Archivan there are two cemeteries, as well as two mosques.
Location
Located near the Hyrcanic National Park. The Archivan River flows through the village.
The highway M3 also passes through the village.
Attractions
The main attraction is Yanar Bulag - the water in this spring begins to burn if set on fire. This is justified by the large presence of sulfur in the water.
